Mahogany Edison Opera 4-minute Model A cylinder phonograph. Early Serial No. 874. This phonograph has been restored. It has a model A 4-minute oxidized bronze reproducer. Play-back is clear and volume is good. New gaskets will likely increase volume. The motor runs smoothly with the springs recently lubricated. Motor winds easily. The fibre drive gear, which is often times easily worn, has been replaced with a much more durable brass gear. The case has been lightly refinished, retains its’ original Edison script decal and is in excellent condition. The bedplate has been refinished with new decals applied like original. The horn is original but has a new Cygnet decal as the horn was refinished some time ago. Some shrinkage cracks are evident but the horn is solid. Elbow is brass. This is a very clean and beautiful example of what we all know is one of the finest cylinder phonographs Edison ever made. Offering to collectors here first rather than UGH . . . eBay.
Shipping is extra and will require three boxes: One for the motor, one for case and one for horn. Pirate Shipping UPS is a reasonable economical way to go.
Asking $4500. Goes to first posted SOLD.
