How rare are pink Lambert cylinders?

Post by KCW »

Of all the cylinder I own (maybe 50), I’ve only got one pink Lambert. How rare are they? It seems they really don’t come up too often, and when they do they awfully pricey. Just curious!

Pink lamberts are only a little rarer than 10 blank brown wax cylinders with no mold.
So, pretty rare

Probably dumb question, but do pink lambert cylinder get mold? I know they lose their internal plaster often (mine did).

US-made pink Lamberts didn't have plaster cores, although UK production did. Being celluloid, Lamberts don't mold.

How many titles are in the library? Is there an online archive of this? A digital one if the music too?

There was a Lambert cylinderography published in The Antique Phonograph Monthly over 30 years ago. The complete run of the APM is available on the Antique Phonograph Society website in the online Library. Do a search for "In The Pink" or simply "Lambert records."

My experience is that a U.S made Black Lambert is even harder to come by than a Pink one. White was the earliest then they stained them Pink and then they stained them Ebony "Black" at the end of Lamberts rein. But to stay on topic The Pink cylinders are hard to come by. Even more so are the original boxes.
