I just picked up this A100 Edison Diamond Disc phonograph and can't remove the grille. I try sliding it up as far as it can go but the bottom edge doesn't come out. Is there a different way to remove it?
Thanks

Are the button decoration things keeping it from going up far enough? Perhaps you must remove them first, assuming they aren't glued permanently in place. That's just a guess; I've never owned an A-100.
By the way, did you also get the records in the box next to it? Those in front look like "World's Greatest Music" sets. They do not credit the artists on their labels, but there's an article from an old ARSC Journal that reveals their identities. Here's a link: https://www.arsc-audio.org/journals/v7/ ... p33-55.pdf

Re: Help removing Edison A100 grille
drh,
I think someone forced the grill back in some how backwards.
I ended up taking the whole phonograph out to put a cloth on the grill. And it looks decent.
Thanks for the information with regard to the records. I got those separately with a Victrola that I picked a while ago.

Very nice looking machine, and that's a neat job with the grillecloth. Well done, and do enjoy!
Those "World's Greatest" sets used to turn up in very box of thrift store/garage sale records, so they are not uncommon, but as you'll see from the article they capture some noteworthy artists. In the opera sets, some of the singers were at the outset of their careers and went on to great things later, and some were fine non-headliner singers who made few or no other records otherwise. Among the orchestral ones, a couple mark the first appearance of Fritz Reiner on commercial records, and I think the ones with Eugene Ormandy show better than many of his "credited" disks why Philadelphia was so eager to get him.

Thanks for the information regarding the "World Greatest" sets. I'll check them out more closely.
