Cleaning Metal Horn
I have several Edison phonographs with metal horns, some have been repainted and some are original. I would like to clean them because the original cygnet horns have oxidation on them. I tried waxing a 10 panel horn and had a hard time removing the wax from in-between the panels. I have a beautiful 10 panel that was painted eggplant purple with flowers and it needs a good cleaning too. I read in past post that Goop hand cleaner was used to remove the dirt and oxidation and then waxed. I don't want to start removing wax residue from in-between the black panels. So what is the best way to clean and polish them. Thank all of you for always helping out new members.

Re: Cleaning Metal Horn
After cleaning the horn, I've used car polish. NOT wax, but polish. The difference is that polish has a very slight abrasive that's made to remove the dead, oxidized paint later. You might also try extra fine automotive finishing compound. After that's all done, then it's time for wax. Go easy and be extra care around decals and striping. It's going to take some elbow grease, depending on how bad it is.

I actually did this thinking you were full of it. Well, it worked better than anything else I ever tried, but you are still full of it!

Re: Cleaning Metal Horn
Hey Curt do you use anything else after you clean it with WD 40 ? Or just wipe in with a soft cloth? I have a red horn for a busy bee grand I just purchased.
