Temporary Fix!

Post by Zwebie »

I am still looking for 2 original handle straps for a 7" record box that I picked up, but in the mean while I was at Ace Hardware and I figured I would try to come up with a temporary fix. I picked up a couple of ¼" pipe straps, hammered them flat, sanded them, and then bent them to shape. I think they came out pretty good. Now I am waiting for the replacement leather strap from "Brettuns Village".

Cheers, Bob S.

Jerry,

This reminds me of your Father.

One time I brought over a part for a machine I had for him to replicate, and he told me he had an old brass faucet he could make the part out of!!! I was shocked, as I knew he wasn't kidding!!

The part came out flawlesly exact to the original, as it always does with a Van Ooteghem!!!

Were you able to match up to the exact screw holes?

Looks like you did. I’m impressed.

Very nice work. And very ingenious.

Thank you for the tip about Brettuns Village. I have bookmarked their site.
