Fireside cases

Post by VanEpsFan1914 »

My Edison Fireside A came with a cygnet bracket installed and I had a 10-panel on it at one time. For some reason I am curious whether they shipped from the factory drilled for the bracket or if that was just an aftermarket addition for certain. Replacement of the cygnet horn (which I sold to David Z) is not likely, and I was considering doing a maroon 8-panel as the machine would be smaller.

(It didn't sell at the swapmeet so I'm considering what to do with it.)

The cygnet sounded very good but I was curious whether the A was shipped with the holes already drilled. I don't like the way cylinder phonographs look when drilled for cygnet horns but not fitted with them. A bit silly, but I don't know much about them or how they came originally.
