Sorry Way O/T But..........

Post by gramophone78 »

Fellow members I know this is way,way off topic. However, my boss.....I mean my Wife thinks that it is un-fair to show things found in Mexico and leave this out. I tried very hard to explain the two really don't go hand in hand. However, to make her happy I will share the short story of today's "NON-PHONO" find. This Bruno Schmidt 17" doll or puppen was discovered inside an old dresser drawer by....Me!!!. I was really looking for Phono stuff. Anyway, once my Wife saw this.....well, the rest I think you can guess. I'm sure many of you have been in this spot and if not.......never mind . Enjoy her anyway ;) :).
Note, she has a little hair loss. I can relate to this...  .

No more OT than my jack in the box post...

Nice find, and her dress looks to be in great shape, too (considering the fabric is usually pretty fragile). :rose:

Tell your wife nice find. I don't collect bisque dolls, but I do have a small collection of china head dolls. The people on the doll board would have fun with this selecting a new wig, clothes, etc.

I told her 3 Vic's and she says thanks for the compliment on her new doll. She just could not let it stay in that dirty old dresser drawer for another 100 + years...... At least now our K&R/ Berliner doll will have a playmate... .
To be honest.....I wish all what we find was small like her. Today I have to crate and send home this Stickley magazine stand. I just hope it makes back in one piece ;).

That doesn't look like any of the Stickleys to me. What makes you say it is?

It might be Stickley, but there were several Stickley brothers in the furniture business: Gustav, Leopold, John, Albert & Charles.

I know a lot about Arts & Crafts Period furniture and decorative arts. Although I have some early Stickley Brothers 'Quaint' line furniture that is carved, the style of g-78's is definitely not from that line. The curved feet elements aren't any of the Stickleys that I am aware of, either. Seems more of a Grand Rapids piece to me. Eric, you left Stickley & Brandt off the list.
