Sorry Way O/T But..........

Sorry, I guess I should have added a little info on this Magazine stand. I never thought to as I was just showing the hassle this is to ship (size wise) when compared to a little doll. This magazine stand was made by Gus himself before he opened his own shop. He made these for the Tobey furniture company and they sold very well. They were made around 1900-01 and are called the "tree of life" because it has that hand carved on both sides. You can see these on the internet. Just punch in "Stickey tree of life". They do turn up and as I said many were made. What makes this one different is it is the only one we (my A&C friends and I) have ever seen with a door & back. They are always open with no door or back. So, because of this. We must bring it back home.
I first saw this in a house next door to my late Mother in-laws house 20 years ago. The elderly couple are now selling thier house and I had my Sister in-law pick it up for me four months ago.
Now it is crated and ready to go home. I just hope it makes the trip.

I know a lot about Arts & Crafts Period furniture and decorative arts. Although I have some early Stickley Brothers 'Quaint' line furniture that is carved, the style of g-78's is definitely not from that line. The curved feet elements aren't any of the Stickleys that I am aware of, either. Seems more of a Grand Rapids piece to me. Eric, you left Stickley & Brandt off the list.

Actually (to be picky) at least one Stickley Bros firm was in Grand Rapids- I have a pseudo-colonial tea cart by them.
