Decca Salon

Post by Electricdreams »

Hi there,

I’m sort of a newbie. I used to have a portable Decca gramophone which I sold a few years ago.

Recently I’ve been given a floor-standing gramophone and I’m seeking information on it.

It’s a 70 series, but I’m not sure which model.
Sadly there’s no winding handle and I cannot find anything online for a spare Decca Salon winding handle. Would anyone here have one?

If not would it be possible to get the dimensions so I can get one made by a machinist?

Ive taken the motor out and wound it up by hand, it does run but it needs lubricating which is easily done.

I’ve attached some photos.

The motor is a Garrard, so that is the name to use when searching for a winding handle. You will have to give dimensions, as there are many different lengths.

You have a British Decca Salon gramophone.

Move your quest over to the British & European section. There’s a great group of British collectors who will be more than happy to advise you.

Welcome!
