Update on my vv4-3

Hello everyone. I'm glad I found this forum. The other members on here have been very helpful with my 1st and definitely not my last victrola restoration. Here a a few pics of what's been done so far. The veneer was pulling away from multiple corners and missing on the lid. Also the right door veneer was missing. When i got this machine the tone arm and reproducer were missing. The felt was garbage and the motor was basically glued together with 100 year old grease. I have since cleaned and regreased the mainsprings. l replaced the felt turntable. Peeled and replaced the veneer on the lid and door. Thanks to the members who had parts I needed and had suggestions to where I might find parts. Thanks again everyone, I'll put pics of the finished machine up next weekend hopefully.

It is very commendable that you are restoring the 4-3. I have one too (bought it needing repair in 1985 and still love it) and have found that the records with the Victor scroll label play best on it.

Well after a vacation to Louisiana to visit family. A broken spring when I got home the VV 4-3 is finally finished. I ended up replacing the veneer on the lid and doors. Replaced the springs in the motor. New replica knobs. New felt, lots of grease and oil. This hobby has now gotten out of control. After only a month ish of starting this hobby I now own a Victor vv 4-40 a Victor vv-ix and a Polk phone player. And about 300 78's lol next repair is going to be the vv-ix so expect a post in a week or so. Thanks for all y'alls help. Have a great week!

I reckon you'd best check into the nearest phono collecting rehab center ASAP! We all know how addicting this hobby is, and now you do, too!

Seriously, I've owned a few Consolettes over the years, and it gives me real pleasure to see the effort you put into this machine to bring it back to life. You went far beyond what many collectors might do to refurbish this little phonograph. Your work is very commendable. Plus, as you already know, when properly restored, these are great-sounding units. I used one once in a public presentation of vintage music, and its sound filled the hall surprisingly well. People were amazed.

P.S. Unless not pictured, it seems your machine has no grille. There's something else to search for! I believe the grille from a VV-4-7 will also fit the consolette.

I do have the grill and the cloth is in great shape amazingly. It will be installed later this afternoon when the machine moves into the house from the garage.
