Edison gem model A reproducer issue

Post by Wallace_1903 »

I’ve a problem with my restoration, I’m at the final hurdle. The stylus sits perfect but with my new lightweight horn it compresses to much and touches the cylinder. The part that runs along the threaded bar doesn’t seem to hold the weight. Can anyone make a suggestion to help

Thanks in advance Wallace

You will first need to adjust the half nut and flat spring that engages with the threaded rod.
The weight of the carriage, reproducer and horn should ride on the knife edge, not float in the air.
Adjust the half nut so it engages the threaded rod but has no weight or drag on it.
Make sure the carriage is in full contact with the knife edge when the carriage is in the down playing position.
After that is accomplished I'm guessing you still will need to shorten the C link on your reproducer stylus to adjust the stylus bar correctly.
Hope this helps, Larry
