Here's an ad from April 1907 touting the Victor popular stars. Of course Ada Jones and Billy Murray are in the forefront. The original isn't the crispest bit of printing, but it's still fun I think. " The whole voice- FULL ACTUAL TRUE- not a far off Punch and Judy echo." Take THAT, you guys over at Edison.

Those ads would be neat if only for the reason that you see photos of certain performers that are otherwise hard to come by. Great galaxy, I like to visit there.
They put DeWolf Hopper right up with the big names, maybe jumping the gun that he'd become a big star with the Victor, like the others.

Interesting. If that "Clark" is Herbert L., the great cornet soloist with Sousa, and that sure resembles other likenesses of him that I've seen, he spelled his name "Clarke" with an "e". Other soloist/band leaders pictured are Pryor, Rogers, and, of course, Sousa.
