“On This Day in the History of Recorded Sound…”

June 2, 1908: Stanislaus Moss was granted a U.S. patent (No.889,480) for a “Horn for Talking Machines.” This was the solid-wooden “Music Master” horn, sold for cylinder and disc machines. Manufactured by Sheip & Vandegrift, “Music Master” bells were also supplied for Edison Cygnet horns, and those supplied with the Edison Opera/Concert.

Horns a plenty! Ohhh I’m gonna get the bottom part of my music master bell and have a full horn in the next couple weeks! June is an exciting month for me phonowise!

Great article on hors which reminded me about my home. You wrote a fabulous article on homes and standards in the Antique Phonograph . Very much and very informative, I learned quite a bit. I wanted to let you know I have a home F with s/n 406643. This may be one of the older home made. My home C is s/n 337826 if that helps you on them.
