Wanted: Platter suitable for Victor D

Post by kiwiatlarge »

Hi folks,

I'm restoring two Victor D's. I thought finding a three spring Bevel geared motor would be the hardest thing but thanks to a fellow collector that was found quickly, if not cheaply... ., Now it's the smaller things that are proving challenging. From board posts this seems a common theme in restorations!

Now I need a platter/turn table that will fit a Victor D motor spindle. This is the one with the smaller diameter center hole.

Or can anyone recommend a workaround like a spindle sleeve so I can use a victor V, VI or VTLA platter (which I would happily consider as well with aforementioned sleeve).

Thanks!

Michael.

It might help if you could tell us the spindle diameter.

According to my calipers, the spindle diameter for the Victor D motor is 5/16. The interior diameter of the spindle hole of a 10" platter that fits that spindle is 17/64 (allow for error)

The larger Vic V/VI and L door 12" platter spindle hole has an interior diameter of 21/64.

‘Turntable’ is the more historically accurate term, ‘platter’ originating in the hi-fi era after WWII.

I'm thinking that the OP, "Kiwi-at-large", may be from a part of the globe where the term is more common. Just a guess though...
