Feed Screw Adjustment on Edison Home 2/4 Gear Conversion

Post by MikeB »

Hi -

I am working on an Edison Home Model B that has had a 2/4 minute conversion done to it. It is the kind where the smaller pulley just pulls in and out to change the speed. When it is pulled away from the larger pulley to engage into the 4-minute setting (I think), the feed screw just rotates freely around mandrel shaft. So when the reproducer is engaged, it just drags the feed screw along with it. I believe that it works as it should in the 2-minute setting. I think I fixed this before but I can't remember what I did. I also can't remember how to get the mandrel off the machine when one of these kits is installed...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks - Mike

The collar that is located at the other end of the feedscrew needs to lightly butt up against the bearing. That will shift the feedscrew to the right courtesy of the small L shaped guide on the collar and give the 2/4 movable collar room to shift properly.
On my Home, there is a visible gap between the belt driven pulley and the movable shifting 2/4 collar.
