Just curious as to what different techniques members use for clean their motors
mineral spirits , gasoline, Laqer and which other ones

I use petroleum and an old toothbrush and old rags.

A great old car restorer recommended kerosene over gasoline for soaking. Less noxious and more lubricating. There are certainly greener products likely less harmful to the person and environment. See Youtube, Dyslexic genius hurt -- he soaks his springs in one of these more benign cleaners. He names the product in the video.
