Help Identify this table top machine

Post by grampaphone »

Can you folks tell me what phonograph model this is? I know it is a Columbia or Columbia client machine but which. It has patent dates all the way up to 1922. Thanks, JT

I can't answer your question. But can you have a look at the reproducer, which of course is a Columbia product? I've found that Columbia sold its client machines with no name on the reproducer. I believe this is true for the various Standard Models (A, X, X2, etc). If one has a client machine with a signed Columbia reproducer, I suspect that reproducer is not the original one. Conversely, if the reproducer under consideration is not signed, that may be an indication this is a client machine. Others with more experience than I may say I'm wrong about that.

Wish I could be of more help.

John

Thanks John. The reproducer is marked Columbia. It has the 'piller and post' motor (I think that is what it is called) not the usual vertical spring motor. The crank is missing so I cannot wind it. I tried with a Standard crank but it was a little too short.
