Post by poodling around »

I haven't actually seen one of these for sale before.

It does look small ?

I am certainly no "Expert" expert, but the marking looks crude and homemade.

Interesting point.

I don't know but I guess it looks similar to the one at the excellent Gramophone Museum ?

Hopefully someone will comment who is an 'Expert' expert - unlike you and I ha ha ! :)

Indeed it looks crude and homemade, but it is PROBABLY made by Expert. I have seen a number of them in the hands of other collectors, they all look similar to this, it is a very trivial brush with nothing special other than the poorly pressed Expert name on it. however, such brushes could be easily be forgeries, if someone finds the right sized and shaped ones to imprint the expert name on it. Since as an object it is not really useful as record cleaner, and nobody could tell a real one from a fake, a reasonable collector would not pay much for these.

I can't comment on the value, but it seems that this is from the same seller who is selling the EMG soundbox and both items came from the same 'source' (collection) apparently.

So I guess (and it is only a guess) that the previous owner would probably have an original EXPERT brush to go with the original EMG sound-box.

Again, this is completely genuine! I have the same brush which came with some spares many years ago. All it is really is a shoe brush stamped "EXPERT" but that is exactly what they sold back in the day. Expert did not have the resources to develop its own brushes and have them purpose made.

As for value who knows but I've seen one sell for £150!

Again, it is really great to hear your 'expert' opinion about this item as well and to hear a some of the interesting 'back-ground' information too.

Fantastic stuff !
