Today I got 2 fabulous 1890s machines I ordered from eBay and one of them came with listening tube type headphones and was realized something probably very obvious to many here but new to me…

Cylinders actually sound better when listening them though listening tubes!

I was very surprised finding that out today using the 1899 Edison Standard A, and hopefully when I get a reproducer for this 1897 Columbia Eagle.

Very pleasant hearing records without added motor noise, it even sounds different than a horn too.
