VV-XVI - What is this?

Post by mrbechet »

Anybody know what this peg on the back of the case is for, what it’s called, and how to get another?

Thanks!
Mark

Mark,

Victor would include wood plugs to fill the holes on the back of the cabinet. Those holes have screws in them and I think were also used when securing the machine in its crate.

Makes perfect sense thanks. Interestingly this one (and it’s missing match on the other side of the rear) don’t have metal threading inserts but there are others that do (inside the case, on either side of the bottom).

Thanks for the insight.

When the machine was being shipped, the plugs were stowed in the two smaller holes on both ends of the needle cups holder. After it was uncrated, the plugs went into the holes in the back.

John is correct about the two wooden buttons being installed in the upper cabinet back to cover the screw holes however the buttons were shipped in the “outfit package” along with other items. Here is the packing list for the XVIII, other cabinet models used this same format.
