Ended unsold I see. Well $25,000 is a lot to find in these hard up days I suppose.

Re: Edison NOS Diamond Disc Collection?
The Wild West town, has been for sale several times. I worked there,in the office, phonograph shop, and as a docent, It is a really great collection, and the Donley boys, now in there forties and fifties, would like some family time, having worked six days a week during peak season from 10 am-6 pm. I am really surprised none of you millionairs, have not wanted to purchase the contents of the museum or the whole thing, I know, if I had the dough, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I think the whole lot was for sale a few years ago, for under three million, there is at least that much money worth of machines, let alone the whole facility!

Even if I could buy them, would I have the nerve to play them?

you'd have to sell some of them to finance the hernia surgery.bbphonoguy wrote:Even if I could buy them, would I have the nerve to play them?

Re: Edison NOS Diamond Disc Collection?
With such a vast amount of Diamond Discs... One of the Edison Museums (National Park Service) or the Smithsonian/(LOC) would be stupid not to buy them.. They should be informed of the sale. Deals and Tax write-offs can be made.. Everyone should have the chance to enjoy them. Why not do something positive with our tax dollars for a change..for future generations. Maybe someone can contact Charlie Hummel. He's got some good Edison museum connections...He could help get the ball rolling..

A well known record vendor, Paul Solarsky, bought those and has been selling them on eBAY since. I bought a few. He told me that the jazz and hot dance had been mostly picked years before but there was still some nice stuff.

Re: Edison NOS Diamond Disc Collection?
On a related note, does anyone know what collection the following disc belonged to? They are defined by their handmade sleeves (some have a core of old DD sleeves, I believe) with hand-numbered labels on the top edges. I recall someone about five years ago selling a complete collection of Diamond Discs, similar to the Donley offering referenced. All were sleeved like this, but I never inquired as to whose collection this was originally. Does anyone have any information? I've always wondered!

I was told that this huge stash was discarded in California a few years back, were retrieved and made their way to various vendors. I bought some from Carsten Fisher on eBAY and also from the Oliphants at Union.coyote wrote:On a related note, does anyone know what collection the following disc belonged to?
