Info on Edison DD Model A-80?

Post by 1923VictorFan »

Hi Guys,
I just bought a really nice (One family owned) mahogany, Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph model A-80. I paid $75 for it on my local Facebook Marketplace not realizing at the time that it appears to be a fairly scarce model? Info online is minimal so I figured I would ask you guys.
Nothing I've found covers things like serial & production numbers, owners manuals, etc. One thing I can vouch for is that this beast is HEAVY. Mine is # SM 2514.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Erich

Nice! I have an A-80 too (SN about 1864, iirc); though it needs the 'motorboard' panels.

An article on the Edison A/B-80 appeared in the December 2008 issue of the APS magazine. In addition to pictured differences, it included general serial number ranges.

George, is it possible to obtain back issues?

I believe some back issues are available in hard copy. Also, APS members have online access to all back issues.
