Having already been sued by Victor for allegedly infringing the Berliner patents, Sonora introduced a new range of machines in 1910. These featured a linear tracking tonearm with a mechanical feed screw, and the example pictured in this thread is a rare survivor.
Again Victor sued (one wonders on what grounds this time) and Sonora only survived bankruptcy when it was rescued by businessman George Brightson, who re-incorporated it as the Sonora Phonograph Company in 1913.
Brightson made a success of Sonora and retired in 1925. In 1928 he was run over and killed while crossing Lexington Avenue, NY.
