A Branded Case Gem Model A That Came My Way

Post by JerryVan »

Some months back, a friend of mine in the Model T Ford hobby gave me a call about an Edison phonograph his neighbor found at an estate sale. He was looking for a "needle" to make it play. Upon receiving a picture, I was surprised to see a very nice looking Gem Model A, but with its unique reproducer completely missing. I told him it could be a fairly valuable machine, but that the reproducer would not be cheap, and asked if he would like me to place a wanted ad for him on TMF. He said he'd hold off on that. He bought it not because of what it was exactly. He's a photographer and wanted only to use as a prop in his photos. Well, okay... I mentioned if he ever wanted to sell it, I'd make him an honest offer. Fast forward six months or so and my friend says his neighbor is ready to sell. I was still ready to buy, so here we are, completed with a reproducer sold to me by a great TMF member within hours of my wanted ad posting. It's about the cleanest example I've ever seen!

That's a truly stunning example of a "branded case" Gem. Congratulations!

Jerry if only that machine could tell it's story.
Where and why it must of spent most of it's life sitting somewhere untouched.
Great machine to add to the collection.
