I'll be going to Washington DC next month for the dedication of the new WW1 mural in Pershing Park.I'll be playing music from that time, and Arthur Fields is one of the artists that I'll be playing!

One of my favourites, together with Irving Kaufman and Smith Ballew, and the englanders Pat O'Malley and Jack Plant.

As an aside, those shoes look like they'd take forever to lace up . . .

Oh, good old Arthur! One of my favorite American singers -- not just for his work with the Sugar Babies! He had a great voice and excellent control of it, and in my opinion, adapted very well to the transition from acoustic to electric recording. Thanks for the birthday reminder! I'll put my Arthur Fields discs on tonight!

I always liked his voice, but it went to the highest when I acquired a copy of Lonely Acres sung by him, solo with piano accompaniment (by him maybe?) on a poor worn Bell 472. A nice rendition of this Willard Robison song.
Not my copy, but here it is by another volunteer
