Repair/servicing person in the Chicago area

Post by Woody »

I bought a wonderful and inexpensive VV-VI at the recent expo, but it started making a regular clicking noise while the turntable spins. (It also makes a fairly loud ka-CHUNK sound while it’s winding down that I’m guessing is old grease in the spring.)

I haven’t opened it up yet and am wondering if I just need to lubricate parts of the motor, but I’m also really, really not adept with this stuff. (And definitely not adept enough to attempt a spring clean-up.)

So if it’s not an easy maintenance issue, is there a good service person in the Chicago area? I live downtown but don’t mind driving to the burbs.
