Berliner Trademark Instruction sheet

Does anyone make replica instruction sheets found attached to the underside of the Berliner Trademark case? Attached is a photo of one. Of course mine is missing as probably most are. Any sources or ideas from the braintrust out there? Thank you James Manker

Just to keep this thread moving, perhaps multiple members could take good scans or pics of theirs regardless of condition in hopes of using all of them to photoshop one good one?

It should be noted that these directions didn't appear on Berliner Gramophones until 1898, so early examples should not have them.

Also, the two examples shown so far in this thread are the later style as seen on machines sold by the National Gramophone Corporation. On 1898/early 1899 machines sold by the National Gramophone Company, the directions looked like this:

A nearly complete image of this label is shown on page 24 of the September 2021 issue of the APS magazine, in an article describing and illustrating the variations of the Berliner Improved Gramophone. Mike Sherman may have this image available for this thread.

It seems to me that this would be an excellent opportunity to determine the approximate serial ranges in which these two labels were used. The image above in this post is from #19791.

Also, for whatever it's worth, I placed my machine on a scanner after removing the 4 rubber feet I installed in 1981 (they were hard as rocks!) and removing the support arm so the screws couldn't scratch the scanner bed.

This source image (the bottom of your Berliner) can work, but not in the JPEG format you posted. Your image is only 209 KB and does not contain adequate data to reproduce it in a clear, life-size image. You will need to re-scan the bottom at a minimum of 300 DPI and save it as a .PNG image to get the required clarity for the phono graphic and the print portion of the label. When saved as a JPEG the image gets compressed and details are lost. A good quality scan of this image would produce a file of 1+ MB (mega bites vs Kilo bites)
1,000 times more data. Saving it as a .PNG file will produce a workable, reduced size file with no loss of details. This will allow the image to be cleaned up and printed in the correct size AND be readable.

Curt here's a new picture to play with. I took it right off my phone and its just over 5MB. I'm not computer savvy, and technically challenged in this area so it still maybe not what you need.

Thanks Larry... much better. When zoomed in you can read the words clearly. I didn't mean to pull the "tech" card, but clarity is extremely important when trying to restore graphics.

So here is a first pass, very quickly, cleaned up version.
There's a lot left to do

• More work is needed at a detail level where the "new paper" was added to replace the missing paper.

• A "Y" needs to be fashioned to complete the "N.Y." in the bottom address.

• The small "Y" needs to be completed for the word Broadway in the bottom address.

• And finally the center needs to be restored. There is one missing piece of paper with that held a word or words that needs to be discovered again. None of the paper labels has this word and it is not immediately apparent what it may be. The sentence is - bees wax will do, if xxxxxxxx is at hand - The word or words appears to be 6 - 8 letters total

Its a start....
