If you do decide to sell this, will it be via eBay, a record auction, or by some other Avenue?
Then again, I know many unusual items change hands among friends without ever being put on the open market, so you may already know who the next custodian will be.
Almost certainly on eBay, with a low start and just letting the auction run wherever it will - probably the only way to really discover its true worth! There are quite a few other Beatles 78s on eBay in India at various prices but they've sat there for a long time - some clearly in poor-ish condition - and I think it's almost impossible to tell the true condition of those stated as E+ etc.

No, I am the master of procrastination!

I think another one, different title sold for about £900 in the UK a year or two ago. I'd let mine go for that.

That's a great coupling but an utterly idiotic and reprehensible price! Similarly there's a seller in India who usually has several Beatles 78s for sale at ridiculous prices.

@Orchosol

Very cool. Belated thanks for posting. I will bring your posts to the attention of my son who is a major Beatles fan despite the fact they imploded as a group long before he was born.

It would be interesting to try again with the Copy(right)Cat$ to see if you might not get a longer EMG [err... Expert Sr.] performance up on Youtube. The two or three bars you managed to get posted sounded great.

I recall reading a post somewhere from someone in LA (I think) who had been in India and while browsing street markets happened upon a stall that had large stacks of 78s. He looked through them and found two Beatles disks. He put those two in the middle of a small stack of other 78s and then asked the vendor what he wanted for the stack. The vendor looked through the records, picked out the two Beatles disks, and said that he thought they might be special. He made a phone call to someone and then a price was negotiated for the two special records. It I recall correctly it was about $15 US each. When the buyer got home to LA, he went to play his new treasures but found that they were merely records of Hindu devotional music, and upon close scrutiny of the records, he concluded that someone had pasted faked and antiqued labels on them. Deviously cunning and clever. Caveat Emptor!

Oh dear - he was fooled, but at least not by a huge amount. I think Indian record sellers know how much this stuff is worth now.

Yes. And I can imagine the vedor going into box at the back of his stall, after the buyer left, to get a couple more "Beatles" records to hide in the larger stacks.

Rather a naughty trick to scam western tourists though.
