Circular and oval gramophone cabinets were fashionable in the UK during the 1920's. The Tyrela is the most often seen.
Some brands, including Bandmaster, opted for a horseshoe shape to provide a longer hinge for the lid.
Some of Bandmaster's more conventional models are pictured below.

Cracked lids are a well known weakness of these circular cabinet styles. $500 (GBP£375) would be on the high side in the UK, but such machines must be rare in the USA and so would command a higher price.

The machine's supplying dealer, Moiser's of Grimsby was founded by Fred Moiser in 1900. The business remained in family ownership for four generations, but closed in 2021 as there was no fifth generation willing to continue to run it.
