Hello,
I would appreciate some advice regarding how to sell my HMV Lumiere 460 which has been in the family for years, but an impending house move now means it must go.
I haven't sold anything like this before, hence I need a steer.
It's in excellent condition with just a couple of knocks to the veneer of the rear corners of the case and a missing key - but it works and the paper diaphragm is unmarked which I understand is quite unusual.
Would it be better to sell via an auction house or try the private adverts or possibly e-bay? If the auction is the recommended route can somebody point me in the direction of one that has a pedigree in selling old gramophones?
Any advice from people who know more about these things than I do is gratefully received
John

Hello John,
Perhaps you could supply some photos? This will help show the condition and help to prove you are a genuine seller as members here have been targeted by scammers. It is unusual for the diaphragm not to have some damage or splits. You may receive an offer or interest through this site but failing that eBay is probably the best bet to avoid the higher fees charged by auction houses.
Your location and ability to ship may also effect the price.

Hi Jamie, thanks for your reply.
Interesting point about scammers - they get everywhere these days.
Here are a few photos that show the condition and the undamaged diaphragm.
It was bought by my Dad who was an avid collector in the '70s and I inherited it about 35 years ago- it hasn't been touched since!
Cheers
