Wanted: Horn. Crane for Edison Home

Post by bruv »

I helped a local museum get a donated Home going. There was also a large Home horn donated with it , but no crane. They got a donation to to pay for all the repairs and parts, but have to use the rest by the middle of October, so if anyone has a crane for sale, please let me know. I have the 2 pieces that go on the cabinet, so just need the two rods. Reproduction is just fine, if not preferred just to be a bit cheaper than original. Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

Hi Dave,

If you have the foot that the crane rod sits in, and the clip that attaches just below the bedplate, you can just go to your local hardware store, get a stock four foot rod, the same size as the foot, bend, cut to size, and then drill a small hole in the end to attach a chain. This is really easy if you have another crane available to use for reference. Since these are not currently being made, this is a cheap alternative that works just fine! Hopefully, though, someone will have an extra one to sell you so it is ready to go. Good luck!

That's a good idea. I will check into that option. Thank you.
