“On This Day in the History of Recorded Sound…”

October 9, 1906: Clement Beecroft was granted U.S. Design Patent No.38, 274 for “Horn.” This became the design used by Victor/HMV for flower horns supplied on many models.

October 9, 1906: Paul Berner was granted U.S. Design Patent No.38,275 for “Phonograph Horn.” This became the “Searchlight” horn, manufactured for cylinder and disc talking machines.
