New Paul Robeson 14CD set - "Voice Of Freedom"

Post by Steve »

I've just purchased a copy of this and it comes in a fabulously illustrated coffee table hardback book with CD's neatly tucked inside the front and back covers. A snip at the price and the transfers are very high quality (without excessive NR). Highly recommended.

I received it today, and sampled some of the recordings. It is a great work, both the book and the music! The transcriptions sounded good to me, without the annoying excessive cleaning of the original sound that ends up by removing the life of the recording. A nice detail is that the CDs are all printed with the 78 rpm labels Victor, Columbia and HMV. The book is also quite interesting. In all, a great compilation well worthy of the great artist and personality that was Paul Robeson.
