Thanks, epigramophone. The horn wasn't actually attached to anything. It's just sitting there, screws missing. It took me until I saw someone disassembling the same model to realise it's meant to be attached. There were a lot of "spare bits" (not actually spare at all) hanging out in the horn along with roughly 40 needles.

The casing is definitely damaged, but only along the edge as you see. In a moment of pure frustration I considered soldering it shut as a Hail Mary before I buy a scrap motor. I probably need a new spring either way.

You're right about the screw holes! My photo just has poor lighting, I think. I'm very glad to hear the brake isn't necessary in the sense that it won't work without it, but now that I've fully adopted this as a hobby I'm slightly annoyed that it's missing things, hahah

I believe it was here
If you live in Europe it's easy to get an original hmv brake locally... France and the UK most likely have. In local country eBay, Etsy, etc you may have some. Anyway it's a small thing and shipping costs will be not expensive.

Roger, Inigo, everyone...thank you so much for your kind words... :rose:

I am now in contact with our new Norwegian member who lives only 60 km away from me, I have also given him my phone number, and will solve this problem, whatever parts he may need, the spring container also looks dubious too me, from the photos. I have lots of parts for the 270D motor, and also a complete motor, if needed. :geek:
