Reinstall Frozen Reproducer

Post by bobkolba »

I was able to remove it from the carriage by freezing it and pulling but I'm having a hard time getting it flush when I try to reinsert it. Will penetrating oil help?

I'll assume it's an Edison type cylinder reproducer. ;)

The reproducer's pot metal is swelled.

It should slip easily in and out of the carriage, you will need to evenly file/sand the edge of the reproducer until it does.

Take James' advice. Penetrating oil will not help since the problem is that the reproducer body has swollen and is simply too large to fit in the carriage. Oil can't change that.
