Ho to clean a Victrola Cabinet using Go Jo, Does it work?

I have a nice Victor 17, the cabinet is in great shape but the finosh is so dark, almost black, not aligatored to bad if at all, just very dark. My question is how good does Go Jo non pumice work on cleaning it and what are the proper ways to do it? I have heard Kotton Kleanser works to but i cant find it anywhere other than online and the shipping is expensive, sosome one awhile ago told me use GoJo , it works just as well.
Has anyone used this? and if you have any before and after pics of a job you did usig it, post them as id like to see before i attempt. There are alof of nice grain in the veneer on this machine but you can hardly see it because its so dark. I dont ever like to strip a cabinet but, i dont know what else i can do. Any thoughts on this?

Geesh i already asked that a while ago, thanks Brian.. But while i have you, i cant seem to find the non pumice one, will the pumice be ok, but people say dont use that?
If i cant find the non pumice at 1 other store tonight i try i will have to suck it up and buy the kotton kleanser and pay the 7 dollars for shipping

whenever I've bought gojo at the hardware store, the pumice and non-pumice types have been right beside each other, along with different sized containers - the best value, if you really like the stuff, is the massive bucket. either way, it's a bit cheaper than kotton kleanser. and the results are comparable, but I've found that the gojo remains tacky on the surface for a good deal longer as it dries. for that reason, and that I think KK is a bit more potent, I usually lean toward that over the gojo. but as those threads show, different people have different preferences regarding the stuff.

make sure you post photos of the XVII when you've got it cleaned up though - those serpentine victor cabinets are some of my favorite.

If you can't find GoJo non-pumice you can buy GooP non-pumice as well. You can find it in the automotive department of Walmart or a Harbor Freight Tools and many other places. Works very well I think. I've seen the tackiness also after using KK, typically if I leave it on a bit longer. I think all these products can soften or even remove the finish when left on too long.

The "tackiness" from GoJo goes away after a couple of days (snd yes, KK does leave the same thing). I always let the cabinet thoroughly air dry for a couple of days before going any further. Once the "tack" goes away, I buff everything with clean cotton cloths then apply Howard's feed 'n' wax. I've used both GoJo and KK and, really, I've never noticed one working better than the other. I just finished cleaning a nice oak Pooley cabinet this way, it will be waxed in a couple of days. The thing was filthy, but GoJo took care of the worst of it.

So basically put a thin layer of it on and then let it set a few mins and then lightly with the grain use 0000 steel wool and then wipe it off with a cloth or paper towels?
Well hopefully mine isnt that far gone i will post a pic of it for you to see what it looks like now and then let me know. Under the lid and motor board look great, you can see the grain of the veneer and it looks great but the outside is very dark, almost black. I have a Vic 6 tiger oak cabinet i was going to clean up as well with it, if it works good on this
