STANTONS: Wurlitzer 1080, Gothic Actuelle, Multiphone, Oak Boroque Puritan

Post by Victrola-Monkey »

Just wanted to make sure you didn't miss out on these very special machines at Stanton's Fall Phonograph Auction this November 21st. If you can't be there in person, you can bid online at liveauctioneers.com and Stantons can ship the bigger machines to you these days. All these machines come with their own carts with 4" swivel wheels, if you want them. It certainly can make for an easy pick up process. Good luck...

My first posting on this topic included links to LiveAuctioneers.com that showed just 3 photos per phonograph to be auctioned at Stanton's upcoming Phonograph Auction. So you have the opportunity to see more photos for each of the phonographs, I have provided the following links. In the case where there is no link, I have attached the photos below.

(See below. This phono is a 10 out of 10... operates, sounds, looks fantastic!!!)

Well I can honestly tell you that you've shown me my new holy grail machine in that Wurlitzer Model 1080. I'll of course have to wait until both kids are done with college but after that I've hopefully got a 78rpm jukebox in my future. It most likely won't be this one as even after we're done paying for schooling $4,000 is a bit out of my wheelhouse but a boy can dream ;)

Dischoard,

I must say that's a great username you have chosen. I also believe this is my overall holy grail machine, I know I will regret selling it. As I paid $9500 for it from Raphael at Miami Treasures, I hope to get more than $4k, though I know I won't get anything like $20,120 Sotheby's got back in 2012.

Wayne,

As you know, I had this fabulous jukebox in my home for a number of years. It brought us a lot of pleasure, especially during family parties when my wife's Cuban relatives danced to the Latin music I had stocked it with. One day a young girl, studying opera, attended our Easter party along with her parents, and at my request she sang this famous aria "O Mio Babbino Caro". She returned the next day for a recording session and can be seen here: https://youtu.be/53VG6BzgTJw

(This aria, from the Puccini opera "Gianni Schicchi" is about a girl pleading with her beloved father to allow her to marry the man she loves, rather than the one he had selected for her. The more you listen to it, the more meaningful it becomes).

In my opinion, this "Mae West" 1080 jukebox is more beautiful than the iconic 1015 "Bubbler' or the 850 "Peacock" Wurlitzers. I hope you do well with it at the auction.

I'm quite sure you will. The 1080 is still one of the most coveted Wurlitzers. An equally nice one just sold a couple of days ago on a FB jukebox group for $6900.

It's definitely a far nicer machine than the 1015, which is a classic, but so common as to be almost a cliché -- especially since modern versions have been made for almost 40 years.

I'd love to buy it myself, but I simply have no room. But I'm very happy with my Wurlitzer 750.
