Credenza Knock-Off on Shopgoodwill.com

Post by CharliePhono »

I have never seen nor heard of this brand before. Would love to see the horn. It'll go cheap if you can pick it up in San Antonio.

The horn, as shown in the ad...
Really better than I would expect it to be.

I want to see where that serpentine conduit leads. Does it just go to an open horn, like in the Brunswick faux-"orthophonics," or are there baffles as such hidden in there?

I would guess it's just an open horn, but yes, it would be nice to know.

The horn is very interesting. It reminds me of Sonora orthophonic model and EMG cabinet model horn.

The only ad I've spotted so far for Mastercraft Phonographs is this one --
Mastercraft Ad.jpg
Some of these Credenza Clones--at about a third to half the price of the name-brand phonographs--performed very well, even if their horns were not quite exponential in taper. Very few have made their way to YouTube videos, unfortunately, and those that have are mostly in as-found condition, or they are playing an acoustically recorded record, or they're playing a record at the wrong speed, or..... :(
