Thanks for accepting me on this forum.
I am just interested in seeing the correct way to go about selling my victrola as I have no need for it. Has been in the family since it was purchased I don't know how many years ago. Originally moved from New Jersey and brought here to Alabama. Has been in a home environment since purchase. Several original records I have in their own holders I have never listened to them. It's in it's original unrestored shape.

Check out the guidelines for posting items for sale in the Yankee Trader section.

Thanks so much. Is that a different website or within this forum?

It's a "sub-forum" of this forum. It might be hard to spot if you're using a smartphone, so:sfsiegel wrote: Thu Dec 26, 2024 9:30 am Thanks so much. Is that a different website or within this forum?

Re: How to advertise for sale
It does no harm advertising it on this forum. You may be lucky and someone will be interested in your area. It is more of a local sale item. You should also place a Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace ad.
Folks want to see good clear photos of all 5 outer surface and a couple of views of the playing area. Show any original paperwork or items that are being sold with it. State if it is working or not or if the motor could use servicing. The ad should speak for itself, with the only prospective question being "When can I come and see it."
It will not bring a large amount, but someone will be thrilled to have a turn with it.
Best of luck,
James.

Along this line, if you haven't already done this, you might consider getting in touch with some family members to see if there's any interest. According to the information on the Victor Victrola page, your Victrola was produced in 1917 -- http://www.victor-victrola.com/XVI.htm -- which means it's been in your family for 107 years. It's always nice to preserve a part of family history, and you never know, there may be a budding phonophile among your shirt-tail relatives.Roaring20s wrote: Thu Dec 26, 2024 11:14 am ... someone will be thrilled to have a turn with it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
