Thank you everyone. Some fine machines which would enhance any collection. Now, about my second best find of 2024 :

The HMV Model 193 came between the smaller Model 163 and the larger Model 202 in the HMV Re-Entrant range.
I found this one while browsing a well known (in the UK) classified ad website, located about 25 miles from my home. In long term family ownership and in untouched original condition, it needed little more than a gentle clean and routine lubrication.

I would love to find one of those HMV re-entrants in the USA. The cabinet styles and finishes alone make them wonderful.

I found a relatively nice and original Victor R at a Flea Market in Fort Worth, Texas

I found this 1916 VV-XVIII at an online auction back in October. Definitely one of my favorite machines.

Not a machine but important find for me. Looking for these forever and finally found in 2024. Now if I can find a Sonora Supreme I can stop!

For me, it was probably this HMV 157 I picked up in November:

As usual I have done a YouTube video. This machine just about plays a 10", but does sound great!

A close second would be this Selecta-phone, purely on looks. This struggles to play a whole record, even with help, however I rarely come across external horn machines at any price:

I've already managed to buy another machine in 2025, which certainly wasn't the plan!

Finally, after almost 25 years, I got a crank for my Columbia Type N in a swap. (It is in better condition than this one.)

Holy cow!

I would move machines out of my house to make room for those, nicely done!

This will seem droll to most, but 2024 had me stumble upon my very first open horn machine, the Vic III with a matching cabinet (not shown as our Christmas tree is currently in the spot where the cabinet usually goes).

It was quite a mess when I got it but gets played almost daily now. I feel like now I can relax and if one happens to cross my path again, so be it, but it is no longer a megalomaniacal distraction in my brain
