Columbia Mignon Find
Just picked up this 1911 Mignon and am in the process of cleaning it up. Suggestions? Also, is the reproducer the correct one for this model? Thanks, Roy

Boy thay sure is an interesting machine. Kind of resembles a flat top Pooley. I wonder if that’s where the design inspiration came from?
Does it have a 3 or 4 spring motor? It kind of looks like there used to be a grille in front of the horn? Does it have the longer tonearm like the one found on the Nonpariel machines?
The reproducer looks original, but I’m not an expert.
Cheers,
David

The Columbia Mignon bears more than a passing resemblance to the HMV Junior Grand of 1909 :

It has a 3-spring motor (works great!). As far as I can determine, there was never a grill on this model.

The one shown here -- https://www.intertique.com/ColumbiaMignonIDDemo.html -- has a different reproducer.

That is one Columbia machine I wouldn't kick out of my collection. I like that it is early, Oak and does not have louvers!

I believe I'm also seeing that it has a different tone arm. My belief is that both examples have the correct reproducer, given the style of tonearms that they each have. Again, my belief, not proven fact.OrthoFan wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 12:42 pmHi Roy --toysbyroy wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 6:02 pm ...is the reproducer the correct one for this model? Thanks, Roy
