Edison A-425 Questions
Saw this A-425 and a few things do not look right. I am not that familiar with Edison DD machine so I thought I'd ask. But there seems to be a cut out in the rear board left of the tone arm. And you can also see thru the back to the wall paper. I would have thought this machine had a back panel. It is a very nice looking machine.

Re: Edison A-425 Questions
Not familiar with the A-425, but my A-200 has a hinged back panel that snaps closed and swings out of the way to access the motor from the rear. There is also a drilled wooden block back there which has a very old nickeled brass "Perfection" pocket oiler, which still works to dispense light oil once I cleaned out the old whale-oil or whatever was inside.
The machine might be fine if they just did not close the hatch back up. I'd say go out and see it. It's very nice.

Re: Edison A-425 Questions
If memory is serving me correctly, that piece in the back is one out of two removable pieces in the cabinet. The other piece sits to the right side or the turntable and should be about the size of that gap. Maybe it fell down into the machine and you can’t see it in the pictures? My B-250 was labeled incomplete (and ended up being cheap
) when I found it at the thrift store because those two pieces (and the lid hinge) were down under the horn.
I can’t speak for the 425, but my 250 (like VanEpsFan’s) has a panel that swings down in the back. Maybe it’s just open and they didn’t close it?
I agree. It’s worth going to check out.
Cheers
David

Some breaks in the grille too... but, that is a VERY rare and desirable machine! The issues shown are minor in comparison to its value.
