January 8, 1935: Born: Elvis Presley, called the “King of Rock and Roll.” Among his 131 singles and 18 #1 hits was Hound Dog/Don’t Be Cruel, judged to be the most popular juke box record of all time.

He would be 90. Wow. I remember when he died at only 42 years old. Makes me feel old... :(

It's funny - I too remember when he died, and where we were and what we were doing when the news came over the radio. I was never a fan, but I'd been collecting and studying long enough to respect the impact he had on the industry. It was a mild shock to learn that The King was no more.

I read that Ed Sullivan refused to show Elvis from the waist down because it was too suggestive,just from the waist up.edisonplayer.
