dating a columbia q.
after a good while searching, i finally found the serial number. when would the serial number 306610 have come out, the last patent date on mine is 1897, so its from somewhere in between 1897 and 1901, wich narrows it down a little

A Q Graphophone carrying #306610 is very early production. Don't be misled by the patent dates stamped into the stanchion. The Q was introduced in early (probably January) 1899. Your machine's serial number suggests February/March 1899 manufacture - if the production schedule was similar to that of the Eagle. In any event, I believe you'd be safe to say your Q was manufactured during the first quarter of 1899.
