Posting a few pictures of your Amberola 30 would help to date it. I'm not aware of any reliable serial number data on the 30/50/75.

That helps. It retains the pre-1919 style data plate, but does not have the exterior speed control, nor a second Reproducer retaining screw. The 30 was introduced in 1915, and although I have no hard monthly/annual production numbers, it probably didn't take very long to hit 90,000. I'd estimate this at late 1916 or early 1917.
I hope that helps - maybe someone else has a more precise date.

I don't think it would make much difference as far as dating, but the carriage does have a second hole for a retaining screw, but the screw is missing.phonogfp wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 12:39 pm That helps. Ooops - you're right, Steve! Now if we only knew precisely when that second screw was discontinued, we'd have a "no later than" point. I admit I haven't paid much attention to Amberola 30s, but someone ought to do a survey of characteristics and serial numbers. It would be great to have scans of dated packing/shipping slips too!
