New to me: The $3.00 Victor Toy Phonograph
I was able to add to my Victor phonograph collection recently. It is the Victor Toy phonograph. It originally sold for $3.00. It also has the record that originally came with it in 1901. For some reason, this one left the factory with the seam of the horn on the top. The celluloid tag is missing. Other than the Holy Grail of Victor horn machines, the MD, I am only missing one to have the complete Victor outside horn models in the collection. You will have to guess which one it is.

Congrats Ken!! Great find
Those early, simple machines are hen's teeth. Glad you were able to add it to your collection-
Let's see--- The one you're missing?? Possibly a mahogany MS?

It's wonderful Ken!
If it's the complete EJR/Victor set, I'm guessing you need the original D - the $6 Toy machine?

I have four different versions of the Victor MS. No mahogany one yet but there is a model Victor I am missing, other than the MD.outune wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2025 3:03 pm Congrats Ken!! Great findThose early, simple machines are hen's teeth. Glad you were able to add it to your collection-

I've only known this model as the $3.00 Victor. Not aware of the $6.00 Toy unless you're referring to the Victor Hand Wind D?kiwiatlarge wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2025 3:04 pm It's wonderful Ken!

Very cool! Closer to $100 in today's money. Does it play through a whole 10" record?

Just for 7" records. Or, 5" records if you have them.

Yes that's the one. Victor Hand Wind D - a couple of books called it the $6 toy.Phono-Phan wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2025 4:29 pmI've only known this model as the $3.00 Victor.
