How Many Machines are in your Bathroom?

Post by Shawn »

Okay,

This question is somewhat of an inside joke with several of my friends.

That being said, with the resurgence of of "how many machines are in your Livingroom?", I suppose its a valid questions as these phonographs tend to end up in unique locations in our homes.

That being said, I would suggest we dismiss with the obvious crap-o-phone references this topic could bring. :o

No phonos in my basement bathroom but there's a plethora of Donald Duck items. You ask why? It's possible to spend all day hitting antique shops and not finding anything phono related. I'm an Oregon Duck fan and since the mid 50's the University of Oregon had a verbal agreement with Walt Disney to use Donald on athletic apparel, window decals, etc. I hate to go antiquing and getting skunked so I started my Donald Duck collection. With few exceptions it's a cheap collectable so I rarely skunked. :D I don't mean to take this thread off topic. When we return home I'll look around that bathroom. If I find something I submit a retraction.

Jerry,

I spy a record and a record sleeve in your bathroom. That's got to count for something :D ...

I have sort of a caste system for my phonographs.

The ones I really like go on display in the house.

Then there is the "phonograph closet" which contains basically overflow table models that I am trying to decide if I want to sell. There are 10 in there now, one Gem, I think, a couple of Edison Standard ICS machines, A really minty original Home, a suitcase Home with 2/4 added, an Edison-Bell Elf (sans reproducer), a Columbia Q (next project), one or two Firesides including one with a really low serial numbers, a Standard A 2/4, and something else but I am too tired to look. This is also where I keep all the lids for the machines on display in the house, all tagged with the serial numbers of the machines they came from.

I have an office at my business where I currently have a Fireside A (beat-up maroon horn), Fireside B (blue horn), an Edison A250, and a Victor Schoolhouse.

Then I have a warehouse where I keep projects and stuff that I will probably end up selling.

You are so correct! It came from good friend, Ron Babb, and the title is something like "The Ducks Done Got Them" or something similar. That's why it qualified for the Duck bathroom. ;)

"De Duck's Done Got Me", Bernard/Ferrera 1923. Silly song.
