Are Victrola used needle cups all the same size? I was wondering if the VV-VIII used a smaller one than is found on a VV-X or XI.

Yes, same size and always a nickel plated needle cup not gold. Are Victrola used needle cups all the same size? I was wondering if the VV-VIII used a smaller one than is found on a VV-X or XI.

Re: Used Needle Cup Question
I'll piggy-back on Dave's needle cup question-- with a question of my own--
Pictured are three nickle cups- All are the same diameter--
The one on the left is what we're all used to seeing in later, common Victrolas- The middle one is an earlier cup that has a knurled ring around the cup as well as the lid. The one on the right is shorter-- And there's my question--> What machines would have used the shorter cup?
Thanks-
Brad Abell

Re: Used Needle Cup Question
Brad,
I seem to recall my VV-4-3 used that squat little needle discard cup. I believe some of the smaller Orthophonic machines used them. I'm not 100% certain, because it's been awhile since owning these machines, but I believe the 4-20 and 4-7 may have also used them.

Re: Used Needle Cup Question
Here the HMV gramophone use this short needle cup, at least models 126 and 194 use it.

Re: Used Needle Cup Question
Thanks All-- I appreciate the info re: the short needle cup-- That's the only one I can recall having over the years--
I'll stick it on Yankee Trader and see if anyone needs it.
And DAVE-- I hope I didn't hi-jack your post too far off the path
I just wanted to put out there that I had three different variations--
