Another interesting point I've noticed is that my Senior Monarch / No. 7 brackets which appear to be fitted on a few of my machines are 7 ¼" long, ¾" longer than what your bracket is showing in the photo. And yet, even with the further projection the needle points overhang by approximately ½"!!

My Sheraton currently has the same identical backbracket as my No. 7 and my Senior Monarch (in terms of physical dimensions) but has the needle underhang. The projection of the bracket would need to be less to bring the tonearm inwards so needle point touches the spindle?

Yes less projection so the needle meets the spindle. How much is the needle underhang?

That is what I'm struggling with. If the bracket with the shortest projection ie. one matching the Senior Monarch, is still too much for the Sheraton, pulling the tonearm further away from spindle, what bracket is there left to correct that? The one you suggested on 10" turntable machines would exacerbate the issue by throwing the arm even further away.

The underhang is just under ¾". It would require a bracket with a projection ¾" less than a Senior Monarch type to correct it. Does such a bracket exist?

Is the bracket on your Sheraton B or Monarch Senior giving a projection of 6 ½ inches? If so they are the correct brackets and there is no other size that I know of. Assuming they are the correct size then I guess that’s the way they were intended to be.

A ½ inch overhang is probably ok. Not as serious as a ¾ inch underhang. Even so I would expect the No. 7 to have a bracket with a projection of 6 ½ inches but maybe the body of the base is thinner.

So if a 6 ½ inch bracket were fitted to your number 7 you would get 1 ¼ inch overhang!

No, they are all 7 ¼". I'm guessing they were originally fitted like that, perhaps incorrectly at the factory? I seriously doubt all four machines have had brackets replaced. Certainly two of them were untouched from new.

I've actually got 2 No. 7's and they both have exactly the same 7 ¼" bracket.
