Victor Record Cabinet?

Post by whitedogfive »

Here is a nice mahogany record cabinet. I am not sure if Victor made this or not, but the side carvings do look like the carvings used on Victor's floor model Victolas. It looks like this one was made to fit a Victor table top. I have a VVlX, but it is to large and will not fit on this cabinet. The cabinet has been refinished before I bought it, so no decals or ID plate exists. Does anyone have any info on this? Who made it and what date? Thanks. There is a Victor key in the lock, but that did not come with the piece.

Looks like you found a nice cabinet. Generally speaking when the top is flat with no moulding, the cabinet was intended for a variety of machines. If it was made for a specific machine, it would probably have moulding that was designed to make the machine and cabinet blend into one unit. If your cabinet is substantially deeper than wide, it's for an internal horn machine. If the cabinet is square ( or nearly square), it's for a horn machine. Happy collecting, Jerry Blais
